The program was a vibrant tapestry of cultural performances, showcasing the rich heritage and talent of the Malayali community. The stage was ablaze with energy as members, along with renowned artists like Kalabhavan Nice and his team, Sechora Dance, Manchester Gems, and Delsey & Williams, enthralled the audience with their captivating performances. Udhyam marked a significant milestone for the Bristol Malayali Association, cementing its position as a vibrant hub for the community.

The Bristol Malayali Association’s Uthradapulari was a captivating celebration of Onam, a vibrant festival steeped in tradition. The event was a feast for the senses, with mesmerizing performances by members of the association and a mouthwatering Ona sadhya. The air was filled with the joyous melodies of traditional Onam songs, while the rhythmic beats of folk dances transported the audience to the heart of Kerala. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Ona sadhya, a sumptuous vegetarian feast served on banana leaves, showcasing the culinary heritage of Kerala. Bristol Malayali Association Hosts Landmark “Bristഓണം 2025 ” Celebration
On August 30, 2025, the Bristol Malayali Association proudly hosted its second annual Onam celebration, Bristഓണം. Solidifying its reputation as the largest Onam gathering in South West England, the event brought the community together for a day of rich tradition and cultural pride.
The festivities featured a grand Onasadya and an array of vibrant cultural performances. A highlight of the day was the “Mummy and Me” ramp walk, which delighted guests of all ages.
The success of the event was driven by the dedicated coordination of lead organiser Tijo Naduchira and his team, including Benny, Linson, Viji, and Joshma. The stunning cultural showcases especially the dance drama, Kaikottikali, Thiruvathira ,Mohinyattam,Theme Dance(Mazha) choreographed by Meri Jose.
Bristonam 2026
Bristonam 2026 brought together a record-breaking crowd of 700 attendees for an extraordinary celebration of Onam. Held at Trinity Academy in Lockleaze, Bristol, the grand festival showcased rich Kerala heritage, incredible talent, and vibrant community spirit.
Event Highlights
- Kummatti (കുമ്മാട്ടി) Debut: BMA proudly introduced the traditional folk masquerade performance to the UK for the very first time, delighting the crowd as masked dancers performed among the audience.
- Paapi Appacha Ramp Walk: A charming fashion show featuring fathers and children strutting the stage in traditional Kerala Onam attire.
- Grand Ona Sadhya: Attendees enjoyed an authentic Kerala feast served traditionally on banana leaves.
- Live Music & Entertainment: High-energy performances by modern fusion band Lokāh (ലോകഃ) followed by an energetic DJ set that kept the audience dancing.
- Kids’ Cultural Competitions: Engaging events including a colour painting competition and dynamic stage dance shows highlighting young local talent.
